Traditionally, families love to set off the long red firecrackers and fireworks. It was initially based on the belief that it chases away evil spirits to start the new year off right.

2. Celebrate New Year’s Eve in one of the resorts
Most hotels and resorts are organising New Year Eve’s Gala dinners and parties and open to the public, and usually with exceptional fireworks. Make sure to book in advance. Expect live entertainment, a delectable buffet, DJ and a countdown to the New year! Check the Events Deals on Marideal or Noudeal to find special deals, and you can contact/call the hotels you wouldn’t see there directly and ask them about New Year Eve dinners. 3. Get the most of Mauritius with a New Year Eve party on a catamaran
Celebrating New Year’s Eve on a private catamaran is a great option for ending 2025. Book a private catamaran trip with one of the catamaran companies (if you find some which are still available, because it’s being booked fast!!) and bring your friends, and your own food & drinks onboard. Usually starting at 5pm, watch the last sunset of 2025 and welcome 2026 in style enjoying a spectacular sea-view of the fireworks.
4. Dance till midnight and more at one of the hottest clubs and bars in town
Of course, the hottest bars and clubs in town will organize a New Year’s Eve party too, so that’s a great option to consider if you’d like to dance on the latest hits till 2024 in style. Locals favorite way to celebrate New year’s eve is a party at the beach with their loved ones. Expect a lot of people on the beach that night and crowded parking lots. As the big beach resorts usually burst fireworks, you should be able to see some on most of the public beaches too!
