Frolic Meet & Trek #8 on Sunday 21st of April at  Piton de la Petite Rivière Noire (Chamarel)

After a beautiful trail to Senneville Waterfalls and the natural pool that Stéphane helped us to discover, our next Meet & Trek will be on the 21st of April and we’ll climb Piton de la Petite Rivière Noire.

Meeting Time: 9 AM
Meeting Point: 300 m below the parking lot of Gorges viewpoint. Click here to find the starting point on Google Maps (-20.423329, 57.426400). A few parking slots are available there.

The hike presents no difficulty except for the final ascent which requires the assistance of a rope, but rest assured the rope is already in place. Located just after the very touristy viewpoint of the Rivière Noire waterfalls, on the road to Plaine Champagne towards Chamarel, the hike starts in a kind of Mauritius undergrowth and is more like a walk; moving at a leisurely pace, the round trip will take us a total of 3 hours.

Ideal for hikers who want to escape the sun, as for almost the entire hike you enjoy shaded areas. However, this presents a major inconvenience in case of rain. As the route consists of a series of small ascents and descents, sort of basins form and the water does not drain, creating a real mud bath. Nothing insurmountable of course! However, note that we will postpone the trek if it has rained on the night before or it’s forecasted to rain on the day itself. We’ll keep you updated on our Frolic Meetup Whatsapp Group.
During the ascent, you will have the opportunity at certain points to observe the Rivière Noire waterfalls, you will also have a first viewpoint halfway, and of course a magnificent view of the Rivière Noire Bay, Le Morne and its lagoon once the ascent is completed.
Due to its great simplicity, this hike is a must-do, it will be an opportunity to boast to your friends about having been to the highest summit of Mauritius.

Bring some water, snacks, and your adventurous spirit. Let’s make some memories together on this trek.

Disclaimer: as always, we’ll be discovering this trail with you.

**Please take note this is an informal and free-spirited collective meetup, open to all participants without any charges. It’s important to note that this gathering is not structured as an organized event. Frolic merely facilitates the connection of like-minded individuals, and as such, does not assume any responsibility for any unforeseen incidents that may occur during the meetup.
Participants are encouraged to engage in the activities at their discretion and are responsible for their well-being throughout the collective adventure. By joining this event, attendees acknowledge and accept that Frolic holds no liability for any untoward incidents or circumstances that may arise. This meetup is an opportunity for shared experiences and spontaneous interactions. Let’s embrace the spirit of exploration, camaraderie, and individual responsibility.**
