Traditionally, families love to set off the long red firecrackers and fireworks. It was initially based on the belief that it chases away evil spirits to start the new year off right.
1. Celebrate New Year’s Eve in one of the resorts
Most hotels and resorts are organising New Year Eve’s Gala dinners and parties and open to the public, but make sure to book in advance. Expect live entertainment, a delectable buffet, DJ and a countdown to the New year! 2. Get the most of Mauritius with a New Year Eve party on a catamaran

Usually starting at 5pm, watch the last sunset of 2024 and welcome 2025 in style enjoying a spectacular sea-view of the fireworks.

Locals favorite way to celebrate New year’s eve is a party at the beach with their loved ones. Expect a lot of people on the beach that night and crowded parking lots. As the big beach resorts usually burst fireworks, you should be able to see some on most of the public beaches too!
