Unsurprisingly, Mauritius has seen a steady increase in pizza places and restaurants in recent years, much to the delight of the island’s gourmands. Frolic organized a Vegetarian-friendly Pizza Crawl Meetup in Tamarin/Black River, where we tried and rated many vegetarian pizzas; we will mention the results in our article. Whether you’re constantly on the lookout for traditional Neapolitan or experimental flavors, here is our list of favorite pizza restaurants in Tamarin, Flic en Flac, and Black River, Mauritius!

L’envol-Previously Di Roma (Tamarin)
Craving Italian pizza with authentic flavors in the west of Mauritius? L’envol Pizzeria, formerly known as Di Roma, is your go-to spot in Tamarin, Black River. This local gem continues the legacy of great pizza in the same space where Di Roma once operated—now with a refreshed name and renewed passion. At L’envol, pizza is more than a meal—it’s a craft. The dough is prepared in-house using a traditional Italian recipe with a minimum 48-hour fermentation for that light, airy, and easily digestible crust. All ingredients are either imported from Italy or sourced locally, including their summer-harvested Italian tomato sauce, fresh basil, and garlic. Every pizza is handcrafted by passionate pizzaiolos who understand that temperature, kneading, and cooking technique are key to a perfect pizza.

Chez Pepe offers authentic wood oven pizzas with thick crust at reasonable prices. This restaurant is located just across the beach in Flic en Flac. It specializes in seafood as well and is a favourite among residents and tourists in Flic en Flac. It also offers many vegetarian options.

Il Padrino Restaurant “Al Porticciolo” (Black River)
A busy Italian gourmet restaurant with authentic Neapolitan Pizzas cooked in a wood-fired oven overlooking the beautiful marina at La Balise. Enjoy a beautiful sunset with your loved one and their delicious pizzas. They have a vegetarian and vegan-friendly menu too. If you like outdoor dining, a romantic atmosphere, and fine dining then it’s definitely a must-visit. They specialise in Italian cuisine from homemade pasta and pizzas to seafood and salads.
Green Village Market Restaurant and Deli (Black River)
If you love nature and eating outdoors, this is the place to be, a perfect place to hang out with friends and family. The restaurant is located in The Green Village, surrounded by beautiful nature and the majestic Le Morne mountain. It’s only available on Saturdays, and timing may vary. Enjoy delicious pizza made with fresh ingredients and the baker’s secret ingredients directly from the wooden furnace. You can visit The Green Village during one of their interesting workshops or camping and enjoy your stay with freshly baked pizza. All classic pizza recipes are available on their menu and to be more inclusive they have Gluten Free and Vegan options too.

Pizz’a gogo (Flic en Flac)
An adorable pizza joint located at Flic en Flac which serves delicious pizza with quality ingredients. Popular among tourists and locals, it’s a highly recommended place. It is one of the best-rated pizzerias in the region, and is also super affordable and provides quick service. They have an interesting menu where pizzas are named after famous towns in Mauritius. It’s located very close to the beach, so you can easily do a takeaway order and enjoy their pizzas on the beach.

Stenio’s (Albion)
A must-visit pizzeria in Albion specializing in Italian cuisine, this spot offers excellent pizzas with generous toppings. They have a vegetarian-friendly menu and are also budget-friendly. Be sure to try their special Aubergine pizza. It’s the perfect place to hang out with friends and enjoy delicious food.

Casa Pizza (Tamarin)
In a cozy corner away from the traffic and just opposite the Tamarin Salt field, you will find this pretty pizzeria that gives you a very old-school Italian backyard vibe. You can enjoy freshly baked pizzas, pasta, salad, and homemade desserts. A charming little restaurant with good service is a go-to place for hanging out. They also have a vegetarian-friendly menu too. If you don’t want to splurge and like generous toppings on your pizza, then this is the place to be.
