The island is beautiful, the lifestyle inviting—but what truly makes life fulfilling is the people you share it with. If you’ve ever felt challenging to make real friends in Mauritius outside your family or work, you’re not alone. At Frolic, we care deeply about helping people find those meaningful connections. Come to our events, join one of the following groups, try something new. The friendships you build here can turn island living into something far richer.

10 practical ways to meet new people in Mauritius
1. Frolic Meet-ups
We host free meet-ups once to twice a month: in the North (with Avra from South Africa) and in the West (with our team from Belgium and India).
We welcome locals and expats from around the world who are settled or settling here & willing to meet new people. Age profile tends to match the host: more senior in the North, younger in the West.
This group has been life changing for us. We started it three years ago, shortly after arriving on the island, simply to meet new friends—and along the way, we’ve built a wonderful circle of friends from all over the world: South Africa, Argentina, France, India, Spain, and, of course, Mauritius.
Activities vary: sundowners, BBQs, games like Mölkky, catamaran outings and more.
If you don’t want to miss the next Meetup, join our Whatsapp group here.
And if you’re interested to organize a meetup yourself, don’t hesitate to contact us on info@frolic.mu!

2. Frolic Hikes
For people who prefer meeting whilst active: the community is organising regular hikes you can join for free. Anil, who is not a tour guide but an amazing member of the community, is organising one hike every week. An amazing way to meet new people for nature-lovers and those who like getting outdoors!
