Bringing Diwali lights to Black River kids: join us in making a difference

banner event for diwali

At Frolic, we believe in the power of coming together to make a positive impact in our community. That’s why we’re thrilled to co-organize a Diwali event with the non-profit organization “Will Fly” on 3rd November, whose mission is to assist the children of Black River.

Will Fly is a Mauritian community-based organisation in Riviere Noire. It provides after-school support to underprivileged children and teenagers from the ‘cité’ (Mauritian Creole for ghetto) encountering marginalisation at various levels, and social and educational challenges. For over fifteen years, they have been welcoming around a hundred children from Rivière Noire aged 3 to 17 after school.

Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, is a beautiful and meaningful celebration in Hindu culture. It symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. It’s a time of joy, unity, and spreading happiness.

Why this event? Because we want to bring a ray of light into the lives of children who are facing hardship in our own community. By offering them a moment filled with fun and laughter, we aim to show them that they are cherished and not alone in their struggles.

Our event will feature a wide range of activities designed around the theme of Diwali, including mandala paintings, candlelight painting, Bollywood dance, and exciting games. And what’s a celebration without delicious food and sweets? We want to ensure that the kids will have exciting food as well.

If you’ve ever wanted to make a positive impact in this community, now is your chance to step up. Your generous donations can help us bring joy to the lives of these children, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime. Together, we can make a significant difference. Please reach out to Céline at this WhatsApp number +65 9426 1869 before October 27th.

Let’s light up the hearts of Black River’s kids this Diwali. Join us in spreading love, happiness, and the spirit of community.
