1. Chinese New Year Celebrations 

If you are looking for ideas to celebrate this Lunar new year with your family and you live on the West Coast of Mauritius then you can visit the ‘Spring Festival’ event organised by Ruisseau Creole on Saturday 28th Jan from 16:00- 21:30. They have planned a super fun itinerary like Lion and Dragon dance, Drum-show and Firecrackers, Chinese dance and Calligraphy, Martial arts, Chinese food and many more. If you are craving Chinese food then you must visit the ‘Chinese Market’ at So’Flo in Central Mauritius on  28th Jan from 09:00 to 21:00. It’s a whole day event filled with Local artisans’ market, Chinese delicacies, and many more. The Northerners, if you missed last weekend’s Chinese Market, then fret not as La Croisette at Grand Baie has planned the Chinese New Year Market on 28th Jan from 13:30 to 19:30 with fun activities like Chine Tea Tasting, Lion and Dragon Dance, Wushu, Mahjong and etc. Coeur de Ville Flacq, East Coast of Mauritius, has planned an exciting lineup of activities on 29th Jan from 10:00 to 12:00 like Lion Dance, Calligraphy, Paper Cutting Expo, Tea Tasting, Tables Mahjong, Singers & Dancers, Tea Tasting, Reading Astrology, Erhu Player and etc.

2. Live Music Performances

This rainy and gloomy weather for the past few days in Mauritius calls for a nice indoor chilled-out evening session with nice music, beverages, and appetisers. If this attracts you then you can visit Le Suffren Hotel and Marina at Port Louis to enjoy chilled-out live music by Jason Lily and DJ François Li at Pink Socks with some nice beverages and delicious bites on 27th Jan from 17:00 to 24:00. 3. Authentic Thai Cooking Class

Who doesn’t love a good Pad Thai, spicy Tom Yum Soup, or Green Curry? And, you can enjoy all of these amazing recipes in the comfort of your own home. The key to cooking any Thai dish lies in perfectly balancing the five key flavors – sour, bitter, salty, sweet, and spicy, which takes skills to master. 4. Live Visual Musical Orchestra

If you enjoy Orchestra or Jazz Music genre then you will find this one very interesting. Caudan Arts Centre has organised a spectacular visual musical ‘Sea of Love’ by Swiss-French pianist and composer, Francois Lindemann on 28th Jan from 19:30 to 21:30. ‘Sea of Love’ is a show encompassing different art forms. Songs about the sea and fishing orchestrated by Francois Lindemann, who will be, accompanied by some of the finest jazz musicians Mauritius has to offer, namely, Philippe Thomas, Samuel Laval, Christophe Bertin, Kersley Pytambar, and many others. Dancer Samuel Joseph will also offer a contemporary dance performance based on the same themes. All of this will be pulled together through narration by Jean-Jacques Arjoon. If you are interested then you can buy your tickets online, for VIP- Rs1,200, Premier- Rs800, and Seconde- Rs600.

5. Latino Dance Event

Enjoy a fun evening grooving into Latino music and dance forms at Veranda Tamarin Hotel, Crazy Fish Bar on 29th Jan starting from 18:00 to 23:00. Bailando Latino, a famous Latino Dance school in Mauritius is organizing the ‘Domingo Latino a la Playa’ event. Wear the most colorful and most floral attire that you own as this is the ‘dress code’ for the event and get into the feels of Latin America on our island swaying your body and experiencing the passionate dance forms of Salsa, Bachata, and Kizomba. 6. Artisan Markets 

What’s better than a 1-day Artisan & Craft Market?? Well of course 3 days of Artisans Market!  Les Allées Market is starting from 27th Jan to 29th Jan, at Les Allées shopping mall.  Many local artisans and exhibitors are coming to present their creative works. There will be food stalls for local delicacies to amplify your shopping experience. Doors will be open from 27th and 28th Jan (09:30-18:00) and 29th Jan (09:30-13:00).

7. Sundowner Party

The infamous WAVES by Tamarina is back on the 28th of January starting from 13:00 to 23:00. The sundowner party is well-recognised and loved among locals and expats. This event is organised by Tamarina Golf and Spa Boutique Hotel that takes place every last weekend of the month. They come up with interesting themes every time for eg; this time there’s a dress code where all the participants should wear white attire. The USP of this event is a great location, beach access, a super cool pool, great music, and delicious cocktails. 9. Music and Wine

Are you a Wine connoisseur? And also, a Music lover? Then, you might want to know about this event.  Constance Hotels & ResortsConstance Belle Mare Plage and Constance Prince Maurice are organising a week of musical wine-pairing experience starting from 29th Jan – 04th Feb (11:00 -24:00). It’s their 4th gathering of winemakers and musicians. 10. Open Air Cinema

Ciné sous les Étoiles  has organised a special screening of all time favourite Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003) movie at Ebène Recreational Park on 28th Jan starting at 19:30 on a super giant screen. 11. Hike to Piton Savanne

Nature Warriors Mauritius have organised a special relaxing ‘Walk in Nature’ to Piton Savanne on 29th Jan at 7am. This not an intense hike so it’s for those who like brisk walking in nature or nature lovers. You will enjoy a relaxing walk through the Alexandra Falls Trail which forms part of the 67.54 km2 park which is also the biggest forest in Mauritius. There is a high possibility of seeing several pink pigeons such as Paille en Queue, Kestrel and Parakeet. This walking trail will lead you to the South of the island with several viewpoints. Transport bus is provided with several pick up points from Port Louis to Plaine Champagne in the morning and from Plaine Champagne back to Port Louis in the afternoon.
