Ban of electric cigarettes and restriction of the use of Shisha in Mauritius
The new provisions of the Public Health (Restrictions on Tobacco Products) (Amendment) Regulations 2022 will come into force on May 31. Among the changes to come, there is the ban on the use of electronic cigarettes and restrictions on the use of Shisha.
The use of “Shisha” or “hookah” will be controlled by the new regulations. The product is prohibited for children and importation and personal use will not be permitted. However, 4 and 5 star hotels will be able to import the device, the tobacco that is used with it or the accessories such as the tubes or the charcoal that is used to heat the tobacco.
