Economic growth forecasts, estimated at 7.2% for the year 2022, have been revised upwards by Statistics Mauritius, now estimating it at 7.8%. On the other hand, 2023 promises to be difficult and will be subject to uncertainties linked to global pressures. At this stage, the projections are that the GDP should register a growth of the order of 5%.
New directives have been given by the Office of the Commissioner of Police to its officers to enforce the regulations. It is, among other things, forbidden to use a garden hose, a sprinkler or any water pressure device “without a valid excuse” or even in an “unnecessary manner”.
Any violation of these regulations will be punished in the case of a domestic consumer: the offender is liable to a fine not exceeding Rs 50,000 and a prison term not exceeding two years. In any other case, offenders are liable to a fine not exceeding Rs 200,000 and imprisonment not exceeding two years.
