We host free meet-ups once or twice a month: in the North (with Avra from South Africa) and in the West (with our team from Belgium and India).\u00a0<\/p>

We welcome locals and expats from around the world who are settled or settling here & willing to meet new people. Age profile tends to match the host: more senior in the North, younger in the West.\u00a0<\/p>

This group has been life-changing for us personally. We started it three years ago, shortly after arriving on the island, simply to meet new friends\u2014and along the way, we\u2019ve built a wonderful circle of friends from all over the world: South Africa, Argentina, France, India, Spain, and, of course, Mauritius.<\/p>

Activities vary: sundowners, BBQs, games like M\u00f6lkky, catamaran outings and more.<\/p>

For people who prefer meeting whilst active: the community is organising regular hikes you can join for free. 3. Singles Socials<\/h3>

What if meeting new people didn\u2019t involve swiping, awkward small talk or endless online chats?<\/p>

Singles Socials brings together small groups of carefully selected singles for relaxed dinners and brunches in some of Mauritius\u2019 nicest restaurants and seaside spots. Guests are thoughtfully grouped by age, interests and overall vibe, creating a more natural setting for genuine conversations and new connections.<\/p>

It\u2019s a simple idea: good food, good company and the chance to meet people you might never have crossed paths with otherwise.<\/p>

4. Hash<\/h3>

If you like running, walking, and drinking, check out the local hash community: Mauritius Hash House Harriers (mhash.com<\/a>). The Hash House Harriers (often just called \u201cHash\u201d) is an international social running and walking club known as \u201ca drinking club with a running problem,\u201d where people of all ages meet for friendly runs, laughter, and post-run gatherings in hundreds of countries around the world \u2014 including Mauritius.<\/p>

Free to attend, they meet twice a month and have other social activities as well such as campings, trips and catamaran trips. Friendly mix of ages and backgrounds. All runs are documented in what they call the “Hash Trash”.\u00a0<\/p>

5. Accueil Maurice (French expats only)<\/h3>

For French-speaking expats who prefer a francophone environment: Accueil Maurice (mauriceaccueil.com<\/a>) has been around for a long time. They have a membership of ~Rs 2,000\/year. Open to all ages, though tends to attract a more senior crowd.\u00a0<\/p>
