SUMMARY:Frolic Meet & Trek #8 on Sunday 12th of May : Piton de la Petite Rivière Noire (Chamarel)
DESCRIPTION:Hey there\, \nAfter a beautiful trail to Senneville Waterfalls and natural pool that Stéphane helped us to discover\, our next Meet & Trek\, initially planned on 21st of April\, will be postponed to 5th of May and we’ll climb Piton de la Petite Rivière Noire. \nMeeting Time: 9 AM\nMeeting Point: 300 m below the parking lot of Gorges viewpoint. Click here to find the starting point on Google Maps (-20.423329\, 57.426400). A few parking slots are available there. \nThe hike presents no difficulty except for the final ascent that requires the assistance of a rope\, but rest assured the rope is already in place. Located just after the very touristy viewpoint of the Rivière Noire waterfalls\, on the road to Plaine Champagne towards Chamarel\, the hike starts in a kind of Mauritius undergrowth and is more like a walk; moving at a leisurely pace\, the round trip will take us a total of 3 hours. \nIdeal for hikers who want to escape the sun\, as for almost the entire hike you enjoy shaded areas. However\, this presents a major inconvenience in case of rain. As the route consists of a series of small ascents and descents\, sort of basins form and the water does not drain\, creating a real mud bath. Nothing insurmountable of course! However\, note that we will postpone the trek if it has rained on the night before or it’s forecasted to rain on the day itself. We’ll keep you updated on our Frolic Meetup Whatsapp Group. \nDuring the ascent\, you will have the opportunity at certain points to observe the Rivière Noire waterfalls\, you will also have a first viewpoint halfway\, and of course a magnificent view of the Rivière Noire Bay\, Le Morne and its lagoon once the ascent is completed. \nDue to its great simplicity\, this hike is a must-do\, it will be an opportunity to boast to your friends about having been to the highest summit of Mauritius. \nBring some water\, snacks\, and your adventurous spirit. So mark your calendars for the new date: 7th of January\, 6:30 AM (yes\, it’s early\, but there is a lot of exposure to sun along the trek\, so we are trying to avoid the hottest hours).  We’d love for you to join us on this adventure! \nMeeting Time: 6:30 AM\nMeeting Point: Black Rock Reservoir water tank\, Tamarin (Pin will be sent before the event) \nThis hike up La Tourelle mountain in Tamarin promises to be a real challenge. With a “difficult” rating\, it includes 4-5 rope sections and stretches with no shade\, which is why we are starting early. But fear not\, the effort is worth it. This mountain is known for its stunning views. You’ll be treated to the best view of the entire western region of Mauritius. \nThe trail is accessible only through a private land. DESCRIPTION:Let’s discover together the trek along the Tamarind Falls (7 Cascades) waterfall\, which is one of the most iconic and popular treks in Mauritius. Although hiking to Tamarind Falls is one of the best things to do in Mauritius\, it’s clearly not for the faint of heart! The hike can be challenging at times! The trail is very steep and can be slippery. \nTake your swimming suit with you\, as you may get tempted to jump into the emerald pools. \nIt’s not recommended to do this hike after rain so we will cancel the trek or select another location in case of rain the day before or on the day itself. Stay updated on our Whatsapp group! \n\n\nDuration: About 4 hours in total\, to go and come back \n\nMeeting Point: The starting point is in the village of Henrietta. There is no parking lot. Here is the exact GPS location of the road next to the cemetery where you can leave your car.
